New Canon Full Frame - EOS 5D Mark III

Canon this month announced the 22.3MP EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR Camera,which will be available in March 2012 (no launch date yet for Malaysia) for US$3499.

The 5D Mark III body is based on the EOS 7D design and with a 61-point AF system similar to the one found in the EOS-1D X. It is a completely new model, with most of the key specs being substantially upgraded compared to the 5D Mark II.

The followings are the key specifications:-

Sensor max resolution: 5760 x 3840
Shutter speed: 1/8000s to 30s
ISO: 100-25600 standard, 50-102,800 expanded
Continuous shooting: 6 frame per second
Shutter: rated to 150,000 frames
Video recording: 1080 and 720 intra or inter frame, stereo sound via external mic
AF system: 61 point
Metering system: 63 zone iFCL
Viewfinder coverage: 100%
LCD Display: 1040k dot 3:2
Dual card slots for CF and SD
Dimensions: 152 x 116 x 76 mm
Weight (with batteries): 950g (2.09 lb / 33.51 oz)

RRP: Body only - $3499, €3299, £2999
Not announced in Malaysia yet but price could be around RM10,999 (body only)

With the camera resolution increasing with every new camera, photographers seem to be needing upgrade on their hard drive. Bigger HD space coming!
